Light explodes along Via Emilia, yellow and dull, mixed with engine exhaust. From the void of the plains of central Italy, where existential unrest and economic affluence co-exist, rises the locals' love for fast cars and motorcycles. This film explores the symbiosis between man and machine, and takes an in-depth look at the evolution of the heart along the Emilian highway. Here intertwine the vicissitudes of a family of mechanics, their professional motorcycle-racing sons, their engine-designer friend, the highway patrol, an organ-transplant ambulance and a cardiologist named, as if by coincidence, Emilia.
