In 2001 the writer Andrea De Carlo accepted my project to produce a filmscript of his novel "Di noi tre". I worked on this project with the Philosophy Departement of Bologna University.
In 2004 I directed my first film in 16mm "...ed è subito sera" ("...and suddenly it is evening"), an experimental work in film improvisation produced by the Cineteca of Bologna and Bologna University. A book of theoretical essays and still photographs to accompany the film was also published. The film was presented at film festivals in Italy and abroad and won many prizes.
From 2004 to 2006 I wrote my thesis in analytical philosophy, a definition of improvisation in cinema based on the analysis of jazz improvisation. My research was supervised by the philosopher Professor Davide Sparti.
In 2006 and 2007 I worked in Northern Ireland with a number of local cultural institutions and with the scripwriter and director Alessandro Negrini, the author of a number of films produced by the BBC, Irish and Norwegian television.
