Gianluca Sportelli was born in Gioia del Colle (Ba) in 1979. He received his degree from the Art and Theatre Department of Bologna University, the city in where he took his first steps as a filmmaker, participating in workshops, directing various short features and collaborating on a number of projects ranging from documentaries to stop-motion video clips. In 2005 he was admitted to the Center Experimental of Cinematography, where he earned a diploma in directing. His work has been shown at a number of national and international festivals. Most recently, he has portrayed the character of MR. Wannabe in the educational film for Lrzn Sportello, "Wannabe a filmmaker" produced by Qoob.
